One Course, three supported phases
Welcome to our Assured City & Guilds Mantrailing Programme! Our programme is one of the most comprehensive and supportive programmes available for canine mantrailing. It is divided into three phases, and we provide unwavering support at every step of your journey. Our training is tailored to meet the specific needs of you and your dog, ensuring success in the field of canine scent detection, regardless of your experience level.
We believe that you and your dog will have a fantastic time playing this game of hide-and-seek! This is not a new method of dog training, as mantrailing has been used for centuries. However, it has recently become a popular hobby that allows you to tap into your dog's natural hunting instincts.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced expert, we can accommodate all levels of development and learning. As you advance through our supported program, you will acquire all the essential skills and techniques to teach others in this fantastic pastime. Don't worry; we've got you covered.
Programme Outline
Week One: During the first week of this course, you will be taught the process of training your dog in mantrailing. The training will include scent identification and the use of our new HydroTrailing™ system. We understand that each dog is unique, so we will also cover various other canine mantrailing techniques to broaden your knowledge right from the beginning.
Week Two: This week, our focus is on assessments, including three days of following more progressive trails, and valuable revision. The last two days of the week will be dedicated to scenario-based assessments. Please don't worry; there is a planned gap between the first and second weeks to ensure your training goes smoothly. Remember, this is a fully supported program, and we will assist you throughout your journey.
Week Three: During Instructor Week, you will receive training that will assist you in creating and designing your prosperous mantrailing course. The lessons will cover various topics, including adult learning theories, classroom skills, and creating a secure learning environment for dogs and humans. Also, you will be able to continue with practical training to enhance your canine mantrailing skills and training knowledge.

Our Training Location
Location: Statfold Barn Railway. Ashby Rd, Tamworth B79 0BU.
The postcode/SatNav may take you away from ‘Statfold Barn Railway. We also have ‘What Three Words’ that can help, holds.soup.code for the front entrance and vital.shop.tamed for the entrance to the classroom where there is plenty of parking outside.
Timings: 09:00 – 16:00: Tea, Coffee and ‘Posh Biscuits’ provided.
Accommodation: Our training venue offers camping, caravan and motorhome hook-up with large exercise areas for your dog . This accommodation is available at an additional cost, via our venue managers, info@statfold.com
The booking secures a place for yourself and one dog. However, some people choose to bring two dogs, but these need to be rotated within your allocated ‘training/search slot’.
The first day of all our courses are predominantly classroom-based theory lessons, plenty of breaks will be given for you to exercise your dogs, and all our parking is within a private, safe and secure area.
